Plantar fasciitis physical therapy in Chatsworth
The first steps of the morning hurt your heel. Dr. Ed finds the calf, foot and walking issues feeding it.
Is this you?
- Heel pain with the first steps of the day.It is there before you are fully awake, on the walk to the bathroom or the coffee maker.
- Pain after standing all shift. The heel is what you notice at the end of a long day on your feet.
- A diagnosis from your doctor and a referral to therapy.Your doctor named it plantar fasciitis and sent you to physical therapy. Dr. Ed starts with his own evaluation and builds the plan from it.
- Achilles pain on the same side.If your Achilles also hurts on the same side, say so at the evaluation. It is part of what Dr. Ed looks at.
What Dr. Ed does about it
Physical therapy for plantar fasciitis with Dr. Ed does not stop at the heel. The evaluation covers the full chain: the foot, the calf, how you walk and how you stand. He is looking for whatever is feeding the pain. When it is more than one thing, each gets its own part of the plan.
Depending on what he finds, your plan can include:
- Calf and foot mobility work.
- Hands-on treatment from Dr. Ed.
- Strengthening exercises.
- Advice on footwear and standing habits.
- Therapeutic ultrasound where it helps.
What to expect
Evaluation first. Your first visit is the evaluation, one-on-one with Dr. Ed. He examines how you move, explains what he found in plain terms and tells you what the plan is.
A plan you can follow at home. Treatment is hands-on work in the clinic plus a short home program, adjusted at each visit as you progress.
How long it takes. Plantar fasciitis takes weeks to months to settle, and the morning pain usually eases first. Dr. Ed does not quote a number of visits up front. He sets the plan after your evaluation.
Evenings and Saturdays. Appointments are available after work and on Saturdays, so treatment can fit around your workday.
"I was suffering from chronic heel and foot pain that my doctor quickly diagnosed as plantar fasciitis and sent me to PT. In my first session, Dr. Edward did a thorough and focused evaluation that helped me really understand not just the plantar fasciitis issues but also a compounding set of issues, each of which he carefully constructed a therapy plan for. Logistically, the location is easy to find with easy free parking making it all a hassle free experience."

Common questions
How long does plantar fasciitis take to settle?
Weeks to months. The morning pain usually eases first. How fast it moves depends on what the evaluation finds and how your body responds.
Do I need orthotics?
Sometimes. The evaluation decides it, not a rule of thumb. Dr. Ed looks at your foot, your calf and how you walk, then tells you plainly whether orthotics belong in your plan. He does not supply or fit orthotics himself; if you need them, he refers you to a podiatrist he trusts.
Should I stop walking?
No. You change how and how much you walk, and the plan spells out both. Dr. Ed builds that plan from your evaluation, with footwear and standing habits included.
